IF YOUR KIT COMES DAMAGED OR BROKEN APART, remove the bag from the kit, keep it folded and very lightly press back together, and place in a dark clean area until it heals usually 1-2 weeks. DO NOT OPEN BAG. Packaging Tape Can Fix Any Holes You May Accidentally Get.

Step 1

1. It is best to start your Lion’s Mane Mushroom Grow Kit as soon as you receive it or store it in the fridge for 2-3 months. We ship our Lion’s Mane Kits when they are fully colonized so there is no reason to keep it waiting.

2. If you see black, blue, or green mold growth in your kit DO NOT OPEN IT. Send Pictures to info@flipsidefungi.com ASAP. We will decide if your kit needs to be replaced within 2 weeks of purchase.

Step 2

1. Cut one of the corners of the bag and fill with cool water up until the filter patch OR cut the X as stated in the next step and just soak the block face down in a bowl of water. Let soak for 3-6 hours somewhere it will not spill then drain out all of the remaining water. Either of these options will work.

2. With a clean towel, wipe down the outside of your bag. Take a sharp/clean knife and cut an X on a side of the bag about 3-4 inches each cut. Some people just cut the top of the bag off about 1 inch above the substrate and let the mushroom fruit on the top of their kit instead of cutting an X. Either of these options will work.

3. Place the kit with the X facing up in your house somewhere OUT of direct sunlight but not in the dark (reading light/countertop light), slightly cooler than room temperatures (around 60 degrees preferred but not crucial).

Step 3

1. Cover your kit with the reusable humidity tent provided. Mist the inside walls of your tent 2-3 times per day to keep the humidity levels high in your grow space until harvest.

2. VERY LIGHTLY mist the block once a day until you see tiny mushrooms starting to grow. After you see these babies appear, stop misting the block and only mist the tent from now on to prevent contaminating your growing mushrooms. Be careful not to mist your Lion’s Mane directly as this will cause yellowing known as bloch bacteria. This will slow or even stop growth of your mushrooms. Mist Tent ONLY.

3. It is recommended to harvest your Lion’s Mane mushrooms after you see the long icicles starting to develop on the mushrooms.

Step 4

1. To harvest your Lion’s Mane mushrooms, twist and pull the bunch of mushrooms or use a sharp knife to cut them away from the block.

2. Blocks can be soaked overnight in water for second flush (harvest) or you can bury the bare block in a shady garden/mulch bed for a chance of mushrooms outdoors! They even make wonderful compost!
